OEM Threats, Threats and More Threats
We are not surprised any more - Yet another threat by an OEM to a company looking to use Inkjet Solutions products to benefit from significant cost savings!
The latest threat - "If you use other inks or solvents we will not service your coders or supply you spare parts!" These were the actual words used in a bid by the OEM to threaten and captivate their existing customer. Its hard to believe this threat was made to a Plant Manager of a National company which has recently spent in excess of a six figure sum on new coding equipment from the very OEM that threatened them. And another one from the same OEM - "Use Inkjet Solutions' products in your coders and it will force a price rise in your service rates from us".
But hey OEM's - keep it up! We can't think of a better way for you to lose customers - they buy your equipment and then you proceed to tell them what they can and can't do with it. A supplier telling the customer how to run their business.
The Trade Practices Act Section 47 specifically identifies this type of activity as illegal and this was highlighted very recently in the ACCC Vs. Warner/Universal Case which cost Warner Music and Universal Music over $1million in fines. There are frightening parallels (frightening for the OEM's!!) in this case to the current actions of the OEM's in the Inkjet industry - it's worth 5 minutes to read the details.
Inkjet Solutions has details of many cases of these OEM threats already and if you've been threatened in a similar way, we would be interested in hearing your story as well. Simply email us at inkjet@inkjet.com.au
